Membership
Membership at Temple Beth El
Temple Beth El is proud to be part of Reform Judaism and to be a welcoming Jewish home in Riverside. We are honored that you are considering joining our congregation.
At Temple Beth El, we welcome membership inquiries from individuals, couples, and families seeking connection, community, worship, learning, and Jewish life. Our congregation is built on the belief that Jewish community should be warm, meaningful, and accessible.
A Welcoming Community
We welcome applications for membership from all who are Jewish, whether their Jewish heritage comes through their mother’s or father’s side, as well as couples and families where at least one member is Jewish. We also welcome same-sex couples and single-parent families with Jewish children.
If you have questions about eligibility or would like to speak with someone about your family’s situation, we encourage you to reach out. We would be glad to connect with you.
Fair Share Dues
Temple Beth El is a self-supporting congregation, and member support helps sustain our synagogue, programs, worship, education, and community life. We use a fair share dues model, asking each household to consider a pledge of 2% of gross household income as a guideline.
This model is designed to make membership accessible while encouraging each household to contribute according to its means. No one will be denied membership because of financial circumstances, so long as they make a pledge based on their ability to contribute and keep that agreement. All financial matters are held in confidence.
